The BEST Weekend

Every couple years my Birthday falls on Mother’s Day! Talk about an incredible gift – I got to celebrate my birth on the day we all celebrate the women who gave us life. I was so thrilled when my mother told me she and Dad would be coming out here for the long weekend,  I totally over-planned and obsessed over their visit! It was such a great trip – we tried new vineyards and regions that we typically don’t venture & shared some of our favorite spots too. It was nice to spend time, just the four of us, and be in such a beautiful region! I can’t even believe the weather stayed as nice as it did and everything turned out perfectly.Now, as if I were some sort of jet setter, I’m heading to Alaska! This means I have traveled to Tahoe, Sonoma, Napa, Palm Springs, Nashville, New York, Philadelphia, Seattle, Victoria, Juneau, Skagway, & Ketchikan all before the 6 month mark. I am so lucky to have a partner who likes to travel & explore as much as I do! In other news, I am going to start announcing my departure from the city to the students at the studio & my clients this week. I feel foolish leaving a place I am finally establishing a following, but it’s for the best. We’re embarking on a brand new chapter & it’s going to be amazing!!

Weekend fun & Vie Winery

Happy Hump Day Friends!

I know it’s a little late to be talking about my weekend but I hit the ground running this week and haven’t had a moment to write things down! This past weekend our adventures took us to Treasure Island, a first for both Phil and I. Just a few short minutes over the Oakland Bay Bridge, this artificial island in the San Francisco Bay feels like an oasis worlds away from the city, even though it’s less than a 10 minute drive.  We were invited by some friends to join for wine tasting and bocce – let me tell you, we had a blast! We enjoyed ourselves so much Phil and I joined the winery we visited. Vie has this quaint, tucked away tasting room and outdoor space where members and their friends can come and taste the latest releases, enjoy a picnic, play some bocce or whatever outdoor leisure activity your hearts’ desire – talk about a great way to enjoy the afternoon! As part of our membership we’ll receive 3 bottles of various Vie vintages and I am excited to let you guys know all about what we got this weekend and whats to come.

Holiday Season Spinning

From mine to yours, I hope everyone had the merriest Christmas, happiest Hanukkah & are looking forward to the most fun New Year ever!

We’re having a whirlwind of a holiday season but are thrilled to be spending time with family and friends, as well as managing some time for just the two of us. While New Year’s Eve is right around the corner, this brief return to reality is a necessary evil. We capped off long weekend #1 with an amazing Chilean wine course at The Wine School. We always have so much fun when we go & end up learning a fair amount as well…I can’t wait to get a little more wine education when Sonoma & Napa Valley are just a car ride away! We learned all about the history of their various regions, wine production, why their wine is such an incredible value and the many grape varietals. What I found most interesting was the fact Chile produces some of the oldest Carmenere in the world. Turns out, there was an infestation in France that wiped out all the old wines so the shearings transplanted to Chile are older than any of the wines growing Carmenere in France…cool, huh?

Anyway, this short week I am doing my best to stay on top of school – I have about 30 minutes of sanskrit lecture to finish, flash card review, a few hours of yoga philosophy to conquer, & my very first recording. I am both excited and nervous to video myself teaching an easy, 60min. vinyasa flow. I can only imagine how uncomfortable its going to be for me to watch it back but as my teacher says, its one of the most invaluable things you can do as a teacher if you’re looking to improve.
