It’s December…when’d that happen?

Hey there friends! Is anyone else completely shocked it’s December?!?! I mean, HOLY MOLE, where did the year go? When I think about all the big life adventures and ‘firsts’ of 2015 it seriously blows my mind: we moved across the country, I started pursuing a full time career in yoga, we got married, I traveled to France and Italy for the first time, and the other week I spent my first holiday away from my family.FullSizeRender-2Phil and I celebrated Thanksgiving just the two of us at our place and while I missed the family, it was nice to have a low key holiday. I made a full Thanksgiving spread, including homemade cranberry sauce that isn’t in this picture. There was no actual turkey but I did offer to make one for Phil – he declined because tofurkey is AWESOME!!!FullSizeRender.jpgSince the honeymoon neither Phil nor I have been the best about our diet. There was bound to be a little post wedding indulgence but we’re both feeling the results in what I will refer to as ‘love fat.’ Neither of us are all that concerned, just aware and making a plan to hit the ground running in 2016. One of the new additions to livingleen for 2016 is weekly menus and exercise routines every Monday to motivate and start the week off on the right foot!

Wedding Planning Revelations

Hey there friends!

We are leaving for the east coast in less than 10 days and I am itching with anticipation. All the last minute wedding details are coming together little by little and we’re doing our best to stay distracted…there is only so much more we can do from San Francisco, the rest will be waiting for us when we get home. This weekend we’re keeping ourselves busy with a trip to wine country Saturday and a Sunday full of teaching yoga and watching football! sfThis week we’re tackling a few things like getting motion sickness medication for our honeymoon, finalizing menu choices for the rehearsal dinner, confirming travel arrangements, etc… but it’s really important to have a non-wedding planning weekend. Especially with last week’s confession Phil and I both really wanted to shift our perspective…leave the worrying to everyone else, this is our day!!!UTAdmittedly, I kind of feel like a kid playing hooky from school skipping out on all this potential wedding planning time but lets get real, what is the point if you’re not enjoying it…am I right?!?!? We’re entering the home stretch and there is no way we’re gonna do anything but enjoy our wedding day!

’til next time, keep smiling! 🙂

Freedom and Fun

So it may have taken me until today but I am super excited to recap the wonderful weekend we had in La Jolla for 4th of July! Phil and I were so excited to take our first So Cal trip together & I couldn’t have asked for a better time. We met our friends Marc & Nicole for a weekend of food, fireworks, freedom and fun! We spent the weekend at the beautiful Empress Hotel with views of the cove and a gorgeous terrace to enjoy breakfast and do a little yoga.photo 1-2

We enjoyed long walks, exploring the cove, wine tasting and delicious dinners but best of all…FIREWORKS!!!! I love fireworks, hahaha, and where we had dinner on the 4th we were able to see 6 shows all across the ocean…it was glorious!photo-10

We ended up driving back from La Jolla to San Francisco…which took 12hrs…but gave me a lot of time to think. I realized that have been losing myself in my work and I need to get back on track with being present, finding joy in the little things, and enjoying the blessings of life.photo-11

I have a month until I’m in Napa with some of the ladies in my Yoga Medicine family for the start of my 500hr training. I have some work to do, which I am looking forward to, but the trip will be here before you know it and I can’t wait!!

Counting Blessings

I started my work day early this morning so the bulk of the day could be spent celebrating my birthday and taking in some of this glorious spring weather!

Each year I remind myself of what’s important in life, take stock of my accomplishments from the year past & imagine what the coming year will hold…20140513-124030.jpg

…One thing’s for absolute certain, my family is the most important blessing in my life…warts and all!

Close second of course is the love of my life and most amazing man I could’ve hoped for!

I can’t wait to share the wonderful details of my birthday with all of you…tomorrow!

Pose-A-Day: Yesterday’s Pincha (Forearm Balance) was a challenge but I’m working on it! I’m very excited to pick a special spot for today’s Utthita Hasta Padagustasana (Big Toe Hold)!

Blessing Abound

Happy Monday! Remembering to count your blessings is important! Today I wanted to take a moment to recognize two people for whom I am most grateful: my mother, Caroline and my sister, Kara.ladies2

This weekend was my sister’s bridal shower I couldn’t be more proud for my sister nor more grateful for all my mother’s help in planning, organizing and hosting the event (in conjunction with the 4 bridesmaids and my aunt/sister’s godmother)!

Its times like these that I am reminded how remarkable these women, and all the women in my family truly are! The grace with which my sister handled herself in this insane heat and the calm with which my mother carried herself while all these beautifully dressed women piled into her home was truly something to be admired (I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off and sweating like a pig, haha!).

I know there are a million things I could be thankful for on any given day, but I wanted to take a moment to note how blessed I am to have such awesome role models!
