Foodie Friday

Happy Friday Y’all! I am tickled pink the weekend is here and I can finally enjoy an escape from the work week chaos.

As promised Wednesday, I am sharing the plates from our Restaurant Week double date at Bistro 7 in Old City. While it was amazing to see my closest friend from High School and catch up with him and his girlfriend, the food didn’t necessarily thrill me. The plates were good and the service was decent but there was no WOW factor…

I guess I am a picky palate and had a long day but I just didn’t find anything all that impressive..good but not great!

We all started with different apps: Beet Salad, Field Green Salad, Duck Liver Mousse, & Gnocchi which were all pretty tasty!image

And then I had the salmon with lentils and the rest of the table had the braised brisket with horseradish mashed potatoes. We all agreed the entrees left a lot to be desired – the fish a bit overcooked and the beef a bit dry.image-3

The dessert did redeem the meal a bit, since I am a sucker for anything with chocolate or coconut, BUT they were by no means the best coconut rice pudding or chocolate pot de creme I’ve had in recent memory. image-2

Like I said, the company was incredible and it was great to get out, so all and all it was a win! I am super excited to share a low key weekend with my love and I hope each and every one of you have a spectacular weekend!

‘Til next time, keep smiling! 🙂

Getting in the flow

467028_0418Happy Hump Day Friends! I don’t know about anyone else but I am itching for the weekend already! Its not as if the week isn’t packed with activities to keep me entertained, its just that all the work week mayhem doesn’t allow Phil and I to have any time together- weekends are ‘our time’ and I can’t wait!! I love my handsome soon to be hubby! I think our favorite weekend plans is when we don’t ACTUALLY have any plans, so we can take long bike rides, stroll through the farmers market, make elaborate meals and just lounge.

Today is day 8 @ Workzone and I am really getting a sense of the company and my new colleagues. farmEveryone is super friendly and the company truly prides itself on being a place where people like to work – we even had a company BBQ last night to get to know everyone better which was so much fun! It was held at a farm so everyone could bring their families and play with the animals, go on pony rides, etc… totally awesome!! Another awesome benefit of the new job is that our office is in a converted home, so we have an awesome screened in porch off the back of the building – perfect for yoga, which is how I have been spending my lunch breaks.

Doing a little yoga on Mendenhall Glacier in Alaska!

I am totally loving my Yogaglo sessions at lunch! I never had time to get a long yoga practice in at my old job because my breaks were segmented, but now I have time for a decent practice every day…and with only 25 days until my Yoga Medicine 200hr teacher training, I need to practice as much as possible!

While I do love my yoga, that doesn’t mean I can’t make time for all the other things I enjoy, so Phil and I have a double date planned for this evening at a ‘new to us’ restaurant. We agreed to try a new restaurant once a month AWHILE back and have not been great about sticking to our pact lately….BUT that changes tonight! Bistro 7 is an American BYOB tucked away in the Old City section of Philadelphia and I have wanted to go to for years! I can’t wait to share all the yummy plates tomorrow!

‘Til next time, keep smiling! 🙂
